Monosuisse Romania Certified with Global Recycled Standard – Another important step in our green strategy.
Certification with the Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is an important step in our green growth strategy, which we have been pursuing consistently for years. The Global Recycled Standard (GRS) is an international, voluntary, full product standard that sets requirements for third-party certification of Recycled Content, chain of custody, social and environmental practices, and chemical restrictions.
The goal of the GRS is to increase use of Recycled materials in products and reduce/eliminate the harm caused by its production. The Global Recycled Standard is intended for use with any product that contains at least 20% Recycled Material. Each stage of production is required to be certified, beginning at the recycling stage and ending at the last seller in the final business-to-business transaction.
We have started the path of GRS certification in Monosuisse Romania 2 years ago, according to different inputs from our markets and inputs from our customers. The implementation of recycled materials in our polymers portfolio is a strategic goal from Monosuisse (Project ScReM – Screening of Recycled Materials).
What added value does the certificate give us?
Requirements of Global Recycled Standard are in many cases the same as Environmental Standards (e.g. ISO14001) and ESG topics we, as a Group, are already working on.
This certification reinforces the commitment of Monosuisse (Romania) towards the ESG goals, set by the Group for the next years, and shows our willing of incrementing the use of recycled materials (polymers).
What does it mean for our customers?
With GRS certification, we have fulfilled a specific request from our customers, which can now close the whole chain of custody (polymers – yarns – final products, GRS certification available at all stages).
GRS at each level of supply chain is a “conditio sine qua non” to make certified final products available on the market.
Will more of our locations be certified?
We have already plans, first to reinforce our GRS products portfolio with additional yarns, made of different recycled polymer (e.g. PA66, for the time being all certified yarns are based on PET polymer), then to extend this certification in other subsidiaries.
The implementation for our production sites in Mexico, Switzerland and Poland is under evaluation. Our goal is a multi-site certification covering all needs from our customers worldwide.
